Pallavi S. Shroff is the Managing Partner of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas with over 41 years of extensive experience. Her broad and varied representation of public and private corporations and other entities before various national courts, tribunals and legal institutions has earned her national and international acclaim. She is the Head of the Dispute Resolution practice at the Firm, with an extensive knowledge in matters of litigation arbitration and white collar crime. She also mentors the Competition Law practice at the Firm.

Pallavi Shroff was a member of the S VS Raghavan Committee set up by the Government of India to recommend a new Competition Law regime in India . She was also appointed a member of the Competition Law Review Committee, constituted by the Government of India to review the functioning of the Competition Act for a decade and to ensure that the legislation is in tune with the changing business environment. She is also recently appointed as a member of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (India Chapter - one of 5 women in India selected), constituted by the Government of India.

She is an Alternate Member (India) at the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) Court of Arbitration and is also a member of the CII Arbitration Law Committee.

Pallavi Shroff has been closely involved with some of the largest and most challenging litigation and arbitration matters in India with regard to energy, infrastructure, natural resources, mergers & acquisitions, legislative and policy related matters. She appears regularly in the Supreme Court and High Courts of India, and in arbitrations, mediations and international legal disputes. Under her leadership, the Firm was engaged by FICCI and CII to represent the entire Indian Industry in the Presidential Reference proceedings (Special Reference 1 of 2012) being heard by a five Judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. The Judgment passed by the Constitution Bench is one of the most famous and compelling rulings in India on methods of disposal of natural resources in India.

Pallavi has always been active in public-policy related work. She was a member of the committee set up by the Government of India to advise the Government regarding compliance with Article 39.3 of the TRIPS.. Ms. Shroff is presently a director on the boards of prestigious Indian companies including Apollo Tyres, , One97 Communications Ltd (Paytm), Interglobe Aviation Ltd ( Indigo Airlines), Asian Paints , PVR Ltd.

Recently, Pallavi Shroff was recognised as ‘Eminent Practitioners’ in Competition/Antitrust & Star Individual for Dispute Resolution and ‘Band 2’ in Dispute Resolution: Arbitration by Chambers & Partners, 2023. Ranked among the ‘Top 50 Managing Partners’, 2020-2021 and the ‘Top 100 Individual Lawyers’, by Forbes India Legal Powerlist 2020. She was also honored with the ‘Lawyers of India Day Award – 2020’ by the Bar Association of India, The ET Most Promising Women Leaders – 2021, the ‘Woman Lawyer of the Year Award’ by Business World’s BW Legal World Global Leaders Awards – 2020 and has been recognised as the Most Promising Woman Lawyer, by the Bar Association of India.

She has been honoured with the ‘Award of Mulan’ at the BRICS Women Innovation Contest, 2021 and has also been recognised as a global ‘Thought Leader’ for Competition and Litigation by Who’s Who Legal 2020. She was conferred the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Chambers India Awards - 2019. She has been recognised as one of the Most Powerful Women in Indian Business by Business Today, seven years in succession (2013-19). Fortune India also recognised her as one of ‘The Most Powerful Women in Business from 2018 to 2022’ while Business World recognised Pallavi as the one of ‘The Most Influential Women in India’ for her exceptional contribution in the field of law. She was recognised as a ‘Leading Lawyer Legend’ for Anti-Trust & Competition, Dispute Resolution, Arbitration & Litigation and White-Collar Crime in in Legal Era ‘Leading Lawyers’ Rankings, 2022. She won the coveted Managing Partner of the Year award at the Legal Era Awards, 2022.

According to Chambers and Partners, Pallavi Shroff is widely acknowledged as "a stalwart in the field of competition law," best known for her handling of cartel, abuse of dominance and other contentious issues, but increasingly active providing strategic oversight on very large-scale, multi-jurisdictional merger control mandates. One client, who identifies her as "a main reason for going to the firm," speaks of a "great sense of comfort that she was handling the matter - always there to step in at a critical juncture." Chambers and Partners (2020) adds that Pallavi Shroff is both "the main pillar of the disputes practice at the Firm" and "the most influential litigator in the country," while another interviewee speaks of her "excellent reputation" in the arbitration sphere. RSG India 2019 report quotes the following clients’ comments - “Pallavi’s ‘understanding of the issues’ was commendable and that her ‘knowledge of business related laws’ and ‘responsive approach’ was excellent.”
